From South Africa, to Australia, to the USA I’ve been fortunate to play a role in driving new sales for new products and services.
In South Africa, as a medical rep for Pfizer, it was educating doctors about new medications that helped save people’ lives.
I got the position with Pfizer because I had served my compulsory training as a medic in the South African Army.
One of my biggest challenges was using trial results to convince doctors that 5 tablets over 5 days was more effective than taking 30 tablets over 10 days.
That medication, Zithromax, is still prescribed today.
In Australia I was responsible for introducing word processing software from Digital Equipment Corporation, to the Australian market.
Every company was using typewriters and my team and I successfully proved that a $28K terminal with software was more effective than a $500 typewriter.
Sale quotas were crushed!
In the USA I carried my passion for bringing new technology and services to solve major problems.
Some of the start-up companies I worked with became incredibly successful; Agile Software - startup to being acquired by Oracle for $495M; Arena Solutions - startup to being acquired by PTC for $715M.
Others continue to provide a good living for their founders, employees and investors.
And sadly, some closed their doors forever.
Everything I've learned and continue to learn about what works and what doesn't work to create, advance and win new sales is used to help B2B companies accomplish 3 things:
